This is a Pressure Ulcer Update for adult registered nurses, nurse associates, assistant practitioners and health care assistants who have completed the full Pressure Ulcer mandatory training. The course also provides an introduction to Pressure Ulcers for mental health nurses and all allied healthcare professionals. Pressure Ulcer Updates must be attended 2 yearly.

Objectives/Aims of Course

The course provides a refresher for nurses who have already attended the Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Management 1 day course. For mental health nurses and all other allied healthcare professionals the course provides an introduction to Pressure Ulcers. It updates attendees with the most recent Pressure Ulcer Guidance and local incidence data.

Course Programme

The core programme focusses on Risk Assessment and Classification of Pressure Ulcers. In addition to this the course is aimed to update attendees with knowledge regarding changes to Pressure Ulcer Reporting and the latest NHS England Pressure Ulcer Guidance. Group participation is essential to share experience and learning. Group work in the form of case studies will be available and there will be a quiz.

Course Deliverables

This course will provide a certificate of Training for Pressure Ulcer Update.

All registered adult registered nurses, nurse associates, assistant practitioners and health care assistants who have completed the full Pressure Ulcer mandatory training. The course also provides an introduction to Pressure Ulcers for mental health nurses and all allied healthcare professionals.
